Mostly good stuff although I'm not impressed by Bum's Rush..
What's up with the purple girl in Depravity? Looks out of place.
Gary Chatterton shouldn't be asked to do artworks anymore ...
I guess, in the future I will call the "Gargoyle/Tremere" starter the ulgy deck, because of the "artworks" on "Deflection", "Depravity" and "Bum's Rush".
I dont like it at all. Very few looked even remotely acceptable in the starters- the booster ones were better.
A lot of the art is quite nice. I'm impressed that a lot of the art accurately expresses the concept of the card, two examples being Govern the Unaligned and Information Highway. The Barrens, J.S. Simmons, Esq., and Night Moves are especially nice, IMO.
To me, some of this art is just putridly bad. It screams of a low budget (which very well may be an unfortunate reality). Some of the obvious Photoshopping here makes me long for the days of Larry Snelly's stuff.
where's the picture for wake with evening freshness? it is the ninth card on the first list, but there are only 8 cards on the picture
I hope to god that Gary Chatterton did not get paid for that!!!!!
Regarding the missing picture of the new artwork of "Wake with Evenings Freshness": I wanted to make same sized pictures and only pictures of cards from the same starter, so I ditched the WwEF. In hindsight, I should have removed one of the "duplicate" "Govern the Unaligned".
Maybe later this week if I have time (and the patience) to make new pictures, I will update the pictures of the reprints.
I don't like the Chatterton works at all, and I guess most agree that it's not really awe-inspiring. When I saw Snelly's works before, I had a hard time accepting it (but that's just my preference) but at least his works are very tasteful compared to this.
Oh, and why is Neo there?
Next time White Wolf has nt enough mney to get a decent illustrator, i could do the job for free, seriously. Here we see really crappy and sloppy art. Buy well Melissa made some cool things the problmes in with the photoshop-my-friends-and-put-them-in-cards guy...
