V:EKN Announces Location for 2011 European Championship

European national coordinators select Poland as host country for Vampire: The Eternal Struggle European Championship

WARSAW, POLAND -- December 7th, 2010 -- In a close vote, European National Coordinators have selected Poland to host the 2011 European Championship. Scheduled for November 11-13, 2011, the Polish event team will be hosting the affair at the Gromada Airport Hotel in Warsaw. Radoslaw "Szewski" Staszewski, Poland's National Coordinator, expects the event to draw 150 players who will compete in multiple tournaments as well as attend a welcoming party and experience Warsaw's sightseeing.

Poland's successful bid for the 2011 European Championship comes on the heels of a highly successful 2010 event in Paris, France. The 2011 event also has a special significance in that it is the first European Championship to be selected by the V:EKN after CCP's announcement that it will cease publication of the game. Vampire: Elder Kindred Network's selection and support of the 2011 event shows the organization's commitment to providing ongoing support for organized play in CCP's absence.

The Polish EC Team expects to launch a website with details for the event by the end of the first quarter of 2011.

You chose a nice picture Ralf - now everybody would think that there is only snow here in Poland, and the bears are walking on the streets :).

See you in Warsaw !!

Nice, I'll be there.

Unfortunately, that's a poor choice for the picture because the Warsaw Station isn't actually in Poland! Despite it's name, the famous Warsaw Station is actually in Russia (St Petersburg). Hopefully people won't get confused enough to think that the location is in Poland!

Eric, you're wrong here. Check http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warsaw_Centralna_station for an actual picture of the train station. And observe Warsaw Centralna sign on both pictures.

And the logo pictures was made by one of the Polish players .. I just used cut-and-paste from the Polish VtES forum.

Better picture of the station in Warsaw, Poland is here:

This exact photo was a base for Peter Bergting's picture on the card, so the place on the card IS actually in Poland.

Hmmm, you seem correct that the picture for the Warsaw Station card appears to be of the Warsaw Station in Poland. But I think that must then be a mistake by the artist, Peter Bergting. The Warsaw Station is featured in Nights of Prophecy, Chapter 3: To Grandmother's House. Pg 89-90 covers the St. Petersburg Warsaw Station, which is controlled by the Nosferatu and where they hide away in the tunnels (which fits the theme of the card). So I guess the artist must have made a mistake in doing his research (which is understandable since most people assume that the location refers to Poland). That makes things rather interesting since it's a Polish picture for a Russian card!
