This is my exact feeling when someone I'm sitting next to plays first turn Valley, Information Highway, or Parthenon. Just that sort of knee-jerk "oh god damnit" reaction.
When I see the "typical" Parthenon + Information Highway combo on the first turn, I always remember myself you have to shuffle your predator deck at least. Is good to trust, but not to trust is far much better.

Nope, you shuffle your PREY's deck and present your deck to your predator for additional shuffling. At least by the official rules.
