I've also heard rule #3 as "oust the American" at various tables. Strangely, they always seemed to be the ones that I was also sitting at.

Agreed!

I often got very angry at french players. As deck builders I hold them in the highest respect, but the way they play makes me hate v:tes. Winning by making deals with the intention to break it as soon as possible doesn't make you a good player, it just makes you a pathetic one... 'nough said...

I haven´t played with french players, but their fame of being the most untrustful vtes players in the world is legendary.
About Americans the only thing I heard is that the are awesome slow players.

Actually the statement that french players cannot be trusted is highly exaggerated.

And the statement of that certain english player is meant as joke, of course.

Never generalize. There are also slow French and dealbreaking Americans as there are clever Germans and peaceful Fins. The huge majority of French players (almost all) I played with made me enjoy the game. But of course, like the anonymous English said: oust them first.

As a french player, I hope that the rule #3 is a joke :p

It is true that sometimes, french players break deals... but not all the time :)
